SUNNYVALE, CA (12/9/91)--Responding to the demands of increasingly sophisticated end users in the standalone computer-based-facsimile market, GammaLink has announced a program to allow GammaFax NA and GammaFax MC owners to upgrade to the higher-performance GammaFax XP or XP MC fax boards. The upgrade program follows the company's decision to discontinue the NA, the original PC-to-fax package for standalone PC's, and the GammaMail e-mail fax gateway package. Effective January 1,1992, registered GammaFax NA users will be able to turn in used NA boards and upgrade at a substantial discount to the XP which can be used in either standalone or network environments. Since the introduction of the NA in the mid 1980's, the CBF market has changed dramatically. The NA was GammaLink's breakthrough PC-to-hx package which allowed single users to send fax transmissions from a standalone PC. During the past nine years, many users have seen the broad scale benefits of CBF and now require more sophisticated technology to take advantage of its numerous applications. GammaLink saw this trend and focused its research and development efforts on providing an advanced line of network-compatible and commercial products. Those products, the GammaFax XP and GammaFax CP, are currently in application environments ranging from standalone desktop telepublishing systems to complex network fax switches with hundreds of lines, to the rapidly expanding interactive voice/fax technology marketplace. Upgrade Program Available To NA and MC Users GammaFax NA and MC users have the option to upgrade to the GammaFax XP, the price/performance leader in the network fax board marketplace that provides added capabilities including automatic text conversion during transmission, multi-line support, a 16-bit microprocessor, and 512K RAM for on-board processing. The XP provides an easy upgrade path to GammaLink's top of the line GammaFax CP if additional capabilities are required in the future. GammaFax NA or GammaFax MC users registered by December 31, 1991 have 120 days to either purchase additional boards or upgrade to the GammaFax XP or the GammaFax XP MC. To initiate the exchange program, users purchase the GammaFax XP or XP MC for $595 and $695 respectively. Users then return their GammaFax NA or MC boards to GammaLink, and upon receipt of the boards, customers will be issued a credit for $245 for each NA, and $345 for each MC. Company Also Discontinues GammaMail GammaLink is also discontinuing GammaMail, an e-mail fax gateway software product for 3Com 3+Mail users. This announcement follows 3Com's decision to obsolete its 3+ Mail product which is required to use GammaMail. As of January 1,1992, GammaMail will no longer be sold through distributors and current registered users will have 30 days to order the product directly from GammaLink. -------------------------------------------------------- SUNNYVALE, Calif.
